Thanks to the United Way for hosting Santa, the Girls Scouts in Chesterville for creating the village, Girl Scout Troop 820 for wrapping all the presents, WKTJ for giving the children a chance to be on the radio, UMF students for helping and of course all the elfs.


HOME VISTING WEEK - TEA PARTY - Nov. 1, 2007

The Franklin County Children's Task Force celebrated Home Visiting Week with a tea party and a reading of the book Miss Spider's Tea Party's.  More than 45 people enjoyed 'tea', fruit, muffins, story and songs.  Parents and children were joined by nurses and staff from Franklin Memorial Hospital, Community Concepts and FCCTF.  Home visitors from the Growing Healthy  Families program and Head Start joined in the fun.

MAKE TRACKS FOR KIDS 2007 - Oct. 20, 2007

The Old Crow Band kicked off the excitement on Saturday October 20th at the Gazebo in Meeting House Park for the Franklin County Children’s Task Force annual Make Tracks for Kids walk-a-thon.

Twenty teams with a total of ninety-three walkers could be seen walking the 2.5 mile loop this year.  This event is sponsored annually by Franklin Savings Bank who also has a very active team of walkers.  Top fundraisers for the walk  include: Pine Tree Pediatrics,  Franklin Savings Bank,  Aramark (UMF food service), UMF Rocks Early Childhood Education, Camden National Bank.  These teams and a few others managed to raise a total of  $6638.10.  The top three teams with the most walkers were, UMF Rocks with 15 walkers, Armark with 11 walkers, and UMF College Republicans with 9 walkers.

We will be presenting a plaque to Mellisa Clawson’s UMF Rocks team for “Outstanding Community Leader” to be displayed at the University of Maine in Farmington.

Make Tracks for Kids is a yearly event for community members to support the programming of the Franklin County Children’s Task Force, which provides programs to strengthen families and reduce child abuse and neglect in Franklin County.  Remember, the biggest and best team you are on is your family.

The task force was given a Legislative Sentiment honoring the  important contributions the Franklin County Children's Task Force has made to the community and the state.  Attorney General Steven Rower spoke about early care for children.

Awards were given for Business Collaborator/Supporter, Community Volunteer/Parent, and Community Organization who support children.
